0:00 Hi.
00:02 So this question wants you to do some unit conversions.
00:05 So yeah, let's just start with part a.
00:08 They want you to convert 22 .6 meters to decimeters.
00:13 So basically in how you could do unit conversions, you want to find the relationship between the two units that you want to convert between.
00:21 So decimeter, right? there are 10 decimeters in one meter.
00:26 One decimeter is 10 centimeters.
00:31 Now, you want to put the unit that you want to cancel out on the bottom because then mathematically they'll cancel out, right? it's just like when you do it with numbers, right? if you want to cancel out this two, right, two over one, what am i going to do? i'm going to put the two on the bottom, right, one half so that these two can cancel out.
00:55 It's exactly the same thing with units.
00:57 So if i want to cancel out meters, right? if i want to convert meters to something else, i have to put meters on the bottom.
01:02 So 10 decimeters per one meter.
01:07 That way i can get my decimeters on the top with the number at the end.
01:12 So just plug this in, 22 .6 times 10 decimeters per meter.
01:18 And you should get 226 decimeters.
01:24 Now, sigfigs, you don't have to worry about it in unit conversions normally because your conversion is normally exactly exactly, like exactly, that number.
01:34 So this is actually like almost like an infinite number of significant digits, like 10 .000 ,000 ,000, because it's like one, or 10 decimeters is exactly one meter.
01:45 So you have to worry about sick pigs.
01:47 Let's look at this next question.
01:49 25 .4 milligrams.
01:52 So again, how many milligrams are in one, what is it? you have to convert it to kilograms, right? so we have to convert it to grounds first.
02:00 So how many milligrams are in one gram, milly? so you have a thousand milligrams in one gram and we're going to have to put the unit we want to cancel out on the bottom right so it's 1 ,000 milligrams on the bottom we want to convert it to grounds first right so that's on the top now we have to do another unit conversion though right so that we convert it to kilograms so we're converting it from grams to kilograms right now because after this step here it will be in grams so what is the relationship between grams and kilograms kilo right so 1 gram is 1 ,000 of a kilogram or 1 ,000 grams equals a kilogram.
02:42 So 1 kilogram over 1 ,000 grams.
02:50 Okay, again, you want the grams you know on the bottom so you can cancel it out.
02:54 Now you can just plug this to your calculator and you can get quite a small number.
02:59 You should get 0 .00000025.
03:09 4 kilograms.
03:11 Okay, pretty easy.
03:15 Now, so if there's the next part here.
03:18 556 milliliters.
03:19 Now this is pretty similar to the last one with terms of the milligram to gram conversion.
03:24 So, milliliter.
03:25 We want to convert to liters.
03:26 How many milliliters are in one liter? 1 ,000, right? and again, we're going to put it on the bottom because you want the units to cancel out...
