So here we see just a rough sketch of the graph that was in the book that has to do with the distance traveled by the 777 Boeing jet and the maximum payload. And our goal in this problem is to find the rate of change of this segment right here. In other words, let's find Slope, so to get the slope will do. Why? To minus y 1 120,000 minus zero over x two minus x 1 7000 minus 15,000 and that gives us 120,000 over negative 8000. And that works out to be negative 15 and the units on that. So the units on why we're pounds and the units on X were miles, so that would be pounds per mile. And it's negative because the payload is decreasing so we can say the payload is decreasing at £15 per mile.
