00:04 And today's activity is an extension of the things that we've been learning concerning systems of linear equations.

00:10 Now, if you guys recall, we've been working a little bit with taking context and turning it into equations, modeling what is happening in a situation through equations.

00:20 So what we're going to do today is we're going to do the exact same thing.

00:23 So i have this scenario that i want to share with you guys.

00:25 And what we're going to do is we're going to talk about wind speed and we're going to talk about airspeed.

00:29 Now, before we jump into the scenario, let me just briefly explain to you what these two things are.

00:35 So obviously, we know what wind speed is, right? so wind speed, wind is blowing.

00:39 It's going to have some impact on how fast an object is going.

00:43 All right.

00:43 So if we're flowing with the wind, then it's going to propel us forward.

00:46 If we're flowing against the wind, then it's going to slow us down.

00:50 Where air speed is equal to ground speed if there is no wind.

00:56 So today what we're going to be doing is calculating the average wind.

01:06 Now the reason why i've drawn them in different colors is because i just want to illustrate the difference of us flying with the wind in blue and us flying against the wind in red.

01:19 So now our scenario is that we are, we have this small aircraft, right? and we're going to fly 600 miles.

01:27 Now when we're flying with the wind, it takes us only three hours to fly 600 miles.

01:32 But when we're flying against the wind, it takes us four hours.

01:37 Okay? so what we're going to do is we're going to find the average wind speed and the average airspeed of these airplanes given these scenarios.
