Problem 11 Easy Difficulty

Consider the solutions presented:
(a) Which of the following sketches best represents the ions in a solution of $\mathrm{Fe}\left(\mathrm{NO}_{3}\right)_{3}(a q) ?$
(b) Write a balanced chemical equation showing the products of the dissolution of $\mathrm{Fe}\left(\mathrm{NO}_{3}\right)_{3}$.

Answer

(a)
The compound Fe $\left(\mathrm{NO}_{3}\right)_{3}$ is ionic in nature. When it is dissolved in water, the ions of this
compound are completely dissociated into $\mathrm{Fe}^{3+}$ cation and $\mathrm{NO}_{3}^{-}$ anion. Only sketch
$\text {representation of the ions which represents this state is ( } \mathbf{z}) .$
(b)
The balance chemical equation of fron (III) nitrate is as follows,
Fe $\left(\mathrm{NO}_{3}\right)_{3}(\mathrm{s}) \rightarrow \mathrm{Fe}^{3 *}(\mathrm{aq})+3 \mathrm{NO}_{3}^{-}(\mathrm{aq})$

Iron three Nitrate is a soluble ionic compound, soluble ionic compounds dissociate completely in an Aquarius environment. The picture then the corresponds to complete dissociation of iron three nitrate will have three nitrate ions for everyone, IRON three. Cat eye on the figure that corresponds to this will look something Like the one I'm drying where these correspondent nitrates and this is an iron three plus. So if we have three, iron three plus is we should have nine nitrates. The balanced chemical reaction would then show this process occurring where iron three nitrate would disassociate into one iron three plus and three nitrates. This figure of the three is most similar to Z, so the answer to part A would be figure Z.
