If we&#x27;re talking about the average salary of Count College professors so I would go with thousands or maybe even 10 thousands. Because a college professor chances are makes somewhere between 150,000 somewhere in there for the U. S. Population. We would measure that in millions and for the percent unemployed, Notices says percent unemployed. So unemployment rate could be something like 3%. 4% 5% 10%. Right now we&#x27;re in the middle of 2020 and we have a Corona virus pandemic, and the unemployment rate has skyrocketed to like 20%. But still, I would probably go with something like ones for that. So those would be reasonable answers. And there are many correct answers, so this might vary from person to person.

Hi. We&#x27;re talking about problem 11 from chapter one today. We&#x27;re talking about how well models, meaning, like equations, represent their data. So the information is talking about employment. And it says the total number of people, um in thousands in the U. S civilian labor force from 1992 through 2007 are given by the following ordered pairs. So you can see your ex&#x27;s represent the years. Um, and the wise represent the people. A linear model that approximates the data is Y equals 1695.9 times T plus 124,320 where why represents the number of employees and thousands and t equals two represents the year 1992. They want us to plot the actual data and the model in the same set of cornet axes, and then decide how closely does the model represent the data? So let&#x27;s break this down. First of all, they want me to plot the actual data, so they want me to draw an X axis and a Y axis and label my exes and my wise and you can see if I really tried to do a good job of that. It&#x27;s not going to be very accurate. I&#x27;m obviously, like micro guidelines, and it&#x27;s gonna take a long time s. So what I&#x27;m gonna do is I&#x27;m gonna use my graphing calculator to get a much more accurate picture. But we have is kind of like doing it by hand, because you have to give the calculator the data. You have to tell it what window to draw, and then you have to let it plot its points. Okay, now, just like if I was drawing it by hand, I would have to draw an X and a Y axis on a calculator that&#x27;s called the window. Okay, so now that I set the window, you gotta check one other thing. If you go to this key called y equals, that turns the plot on and you&#x27;re telling it to graph the statistics that you put in. So now if I hate graph, there&#x27;s the ordered pairs so that very bottom one would represent 1992 comma 1 28,105 There&#x27;s the next start. The next time, the next shot someone and so four. Okay, now I&#x27;m going to start this show up again, and I just copied and pasted that in so we could talk about how closely the model represents the data. Well, I can check the closeness to different ways. The difference between those if you subtract, it&#x27;s for 95.5, which is approximately a difference of 496. Okay, that&#x27;s pretty darn close. Okay, Now you would if you were just checking this algebraic lee. And you didn&#x27;t have a visual. You would obviously not just check one ordered pear. But if you check several of them and they came out pretty darn close In other words, your model When you plug it into the equation the math If the math gives you say the same thing or really close to what the rial number waas, then you have a good model. If you&#x27;re really far off from what the real answer is, then your model isn&#x27;t very good. That&#x27;s algebraic Lee. Visually, it&#x27;s even easier to tell that the model is really good. I mean, every you see all of these, that air filled in black that hit the line. Exactly. Meaning if you plugged in those exes, you would get door near close to the same. Why that&#x27;s in the data. The rest of them aren&#x27;t that far away from the model, which is the line. The model is the line. The dots are the data.
