00:04 So when we are talking about the components that kind of make up a computer, and again, remember, computers can be all kinds of different things.

00:12 They don't have to just be a desktop or a laptop computer.

00:16 You know, we live in a world now where there's a computer in our fridge.

00:19 There's a computer in some of our toasters.

00:22 There's a lot of different types of things that kind of meet the criteria of a computer.

00:28 Not all of them have these components, but we'll kind of talk about five main components that you can see in a computer.

00:34 So the one big one that's there in all computing devices is something called the cpu, which stands for the central processing unit.

00:42 So when we talk about what is a program and it's a bunch of instructions getting executed, this is the thing that's doing the executing.

00:49 It's often referred to as the brain of the computer.

00:52 So the cpu, we talk about the memory.

00:56 So we need to have memory in a computer so that it can remember things and then recall that stuff later to do instructions.

01:03 So in order for it to do all of the instructions we wanted to do, it needs to have some type of storage system that's accessible to the processor.

01:09 Okay, so that's our main memory.

01:11 And that's not really where we as like humans or users would store things.
