We want to design an experiment to test lamarck's hypothesis, which is the acquired characteristic hypothesis.
00:09
Okay, so this is going to be a problem.
00:13
We know that this is not a correct hypothesis.
00:16
So what kinds of trait should we allow the organism to acquire? well, probably the ideal is going to be something that meets lamarck's own examples.
00:27
For example, lamarck gave the example of giraffes stretching their necks.
00:31
So we could have perhaps a food dish dish just out of reach.
00:40
And that would encourage the organism to stretch to get to the food ditch.
00:46
And we feed it every day with this, and those that can stretch further, perhaps their necks would stretch as lamarck would expect, and they would be getting better at getting their food.
01:01
And then we can look at the offspring and see if they have longer necks...
