Here we're being asked to do an experiment that looks at the relationship between species richness, and that's just the number of species we have in a community, and the productivity or the biomass produced by that community.

Now, there are any number of different ways to go about doing this, but in general what you're going to want to do is set up an experiment in which you'd change the number of species in different plots or aquaria or whatever.
