In mathematics, a function is a relation between a set of inputs and a set of permissible outputs with the property that each input is related to exactly one output. An example is the function that relates each real number x to its square x^2. The output of a function f corresponding to an input x is denoted by f(x).

for this problem. We need to find the equation of the line with the given slope. And why intercept now for this particular problem? We're told that this slope equals one half and the Y intercept is at the 10.0 1/4. Now, every Y intercept will have an X value of zero, because the Y intercept happens on the Y axis, which means that your ex value is going to be zero for all of those points. So when we talk about the Y intercept, we're typically looking at that. Why value which in this case is a quarter. Okay, now, how do we take this information and write a line equation? Well, this traditional, um, format we're gonna be using when we're given the slope in the intercept is called the Slope Intercept form Y equals MX plus B M is the slope of the line, and B is the y intercept so we can take what we know and plug them in for the slope and the intercept to get our the value of our equation. So in this case, why equals M X, where Slope is a half. So that's one half x plus b plus our Y intercept. That is plus one quarter. So our equation is why equals one half x plus one quarter.
