we're given the equation. Why equals absolute value of X Plus three to determine if it is a linear equation or not? Linear equations form straight lines on graphs. So when I look at this is kind of hard to tail without graphing it. But I can use the slope form to determine if it fits that same model. A linear equation should be able to be written in the form Why equals you mix Plus big. And even though this has an X, and it has a number to represent the place of B, I noticed that this is also written is absolute value. I cannot have an absolute value for it to be a linear equation. So that tells me that because this is not written the exact form, this is not linear. Now let's grab some points on the line. Even though it's not linear, it still can be graphed. So let's use the points for X. Let's use the points Negative too negative. One, 01 and two. So we're gonna put these in place of eggs so we're have y equals absolute value of negative, too. Plus three. The absolute value of negative two is positive too. And posited two plus three is five. Why equals absolute value of negative one plus three? Absolute value of negative oneness one and one plus three is four. Why equals absolute value of zero plus three? Well, the absolute value of zero is still zero and zero plus three is three. Why equals absolute value of one plus three? Absolute value of one is one less three is four and why equals absolute value of two less? Three absolute value of two is two plus three is five so less graft. These points now on the graph. So let's start where X is negative. Two. Why is five X's native one? Why is four where X zero wise three. Where X is one wise four and where X's to y's positive. Five. So we can see just from the points itself before a draw. Balon. But the points do not create a straight line. Instead, that kind of create this V. This turned upwards. So this proves that this graph in this equation is not
