When you look at the right side of the first equation, you could think of X as the fraction X over one, and you could think about this as multiplying two fractions so 16 times X over one. You would multiply the numerator tze, and that gives you X, and you would multiply the denominators and that gives you six. The same idea is true. For the second problem, let's take a look at the fraction on the left. We have 5/3 times X. You could think of that as 5/3 times X, divided by one fraction times a fraction. Multiply the numerator is and you get five X and multiply the denominators and you get three. So you really just want to use whichever form works best for you. In the context of the problem, sometimes having the X and the fraction is nice, and sometimes having the X next to the fraction is nice.
