00:07 So let's start off with the definition of each, and that will give us an idea of what each one does.
00:15 So the atria, or singular, will be the atrium.
00:19 We have two of them.
00:20 There's going to be the right atrium, and there's the left atrium.
00:22 But the two together, they perform basically the same function.
00:27 The atria will be responsible for collecting blood.
00:32 They collect blood in the intake phase of our heart contraction, so they will basically allow for this blood to pull up in this collection area, so it's like a waiting area for our ventricles.
00:44 Because the ventricles can only handle so much blood at a time, we need to store that blood for just a small second in the atria before we are able to transfer it through the valves to the ventricles.
00:55 So the atria are used for collecting blood and getting it ready to be shipped out by the ventricles...
