00:01
Okay, so to help you with your question, let's talk about brain stuff today.
00:05
And let's take a look at the brain itself and just go through a couple of those multiple choice options that you have and we'll narrow it down until we find the right choice.
00:16
So the first area of the brain that we should talk about is right here.
00:21
This is the cerebral cortex.
00:23
The cerebral cortex is the outermost layer.
00:27
It's going to be all of that gray matter.
00:29
And then the next areas that i think we have to highlight would be here.
00:34
This is the little pituitary gland.
00:36
And i did incorporate that into what we're talking about because we are talking about this area, which is the hypothalamus.
00:44
So we have the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland.
00:47
And then we're also going to have here in red the medulla oblongata and right here in blue the cerebellum.
00:56
And then that down here we have the brainstem.
00:59
And then a little bit of that spinal cord segment.
01:03
So let's start with the cerebral cortex first.
01:06
And again, that is the outermost layer.
01:09
And it's going to be that gray matter because we know that all of the white matter is inner.
01:15
It's going to be the inner layer.
01:17
So cerebral cortex is on the outside.
01:19
It controls our thoughts if we want to really sum it up.
01:24
Things like our personality traits.
01:27
You know, it's kind of an odd one.
01:29
That's just the way it is.
01:31
You don't really think about personality or your awareness, you know, your consciousness.
01:36
But those are things that the cerebral cortex does control, including language.
01:42
So your cerebral cortex, you know, if it gets damaged, you may actually forget your native, excuse me, language.
01:51
Then we have things like the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland.
01:55
And they work together as a team to take care of your.
01:59
Endocrine system, which would be your hormones.
02:03
The hypothalamus in and of itself can also control things like blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and via this endocrine system, it does control a lot of other things like your appetite and your thirst or your stress controls, right? and also even your sleep cycle.
02:32
Now, the thing that you should notice about the hypothalamus and pituitary gland then is that they were doing involuntary work, right? so none of this is actually actionable...
