Dominoes A domino is a flat rectangular block whose face is divided into two square parts, each part showing from zero to six pips (or dots). Playing a game consists of playing dominoes with a matching number of pips. Explain why there are 28 dominoes in a complete set.

a domino tile has two parts, and on each part there are 0 to 6 dots. The question is why there's a complete set. Have 28 dominoes. So if you think about it, this should be a combination problem. There are seven possibilities four number of Dutch 01234 fine and six in your two thing door at the time because each tile has two parts. So you would think wouldn't the answer just be combination? Seven. Taken toward the time they said the number off dominoes in a complete set. Now this is equal to 21 and in this case that would be wrong. The reason why is this debt notation combination and taken our it assumes two things. Number one order is not important. In contrast to a permutation in which order is important. The second assumption here is dead. No reputations are allowed. In other words, in combination seven taken to the double tiles are not think you did. The double tiles are the ones that have the same number of dots on the two parts off a domino tile. So 001122 and so on up to 66 and there are seven of those. So the total number off dominoes in a complete set would have to be the combination seven taken to plus seven, which is equal to 21. The seven, which is you go to 20 dominoes in a complete set.
