Hello everyone.
00:01
Today we'll be looking at a question dealing with the cell cycle.
00:04
So we are trying to find out when in the cell cycle will the mass of the cell increase? when will it get heavier and why? in order for us to answer that question, let's go through the cell cycle really quickly.
00:17
So the cell cycle is usually represented using this pie -looking diagram.
00:22
It's broken down into fourths.
00:23
The first three -fourths are g1, s, and g2.
00:31
So the beginning of this cycle starts at g1.
00:35
G -1 is a growth phase.
00:38
And during this time, the cell will grow to its normal size.
00:43
Once the cell has grown to its normal size, it will enter s -phase.
00:47
S -phase is important because this is where dna replication will happen.
00:52
Remember, by the end of the cell cycle, you should end up with two identical cells.
00:56
But in order for you to make another cell, you first need to make a second set of dna for that cell...
