Electrical sensitivity of sharks. Certain sharks can detect an electric field as weak as 1.0$\mu \mathrm{V} / \mathrm{m} .$ To grasp how weak this field is, if you wanted to produce it between two parallel metal plates by connecting an ordinary 1.5 $\mathrm{V}$ A battery across theseplates, how far apart would the plates have to be?

So when this problem, we're told that sharks can detect electric fields of one times 10 to the minus six bullets per meter. And to grasp how small of a number this is were instructed to think about the capacitor. Um, who's voltage is 1.5 volts? And, um, how how far apart with the plates on this capacitor be? And so, um, we wantto for a capacitor, he is just the voltage divided by the distance between the plates. Just because in general, the electric field is the derivative special derivative of this the, um potential so and then we want to sell for distance. So that's distances V over e and then plugging in one times 10 to the minus. Oh, is full perimeter dia's view re. And so we want to plug in 1.5 divided by one times 10 to the minus six. And so we got 1.5 times. Tend to the positive six
