We're being asked to evaluate this given expression, and we're gonna use the order of operations to help us. Well, I know this. We have a gripping symbol here. We have the absolute value of negative two plus one. So I first need to do negative two plus one, which is negative one. So we're gonna have a negative five times negative. Two to the third power, minus the absolute value of negative one. Well, we still need to find the absolute value. A negative one, which is just positive. One so narrow love with negative five times negative. Two to the third, minus one. So now we're taking care of our grouping. Simple. So if you know this, we have multiplication and exponents and subtraction. So according to the order of operations, we must do the exploded next. Well, we have negative to race to the third power. Well, that means negative two times negative. Two times negative too, which is equal to negative eight. So now we have negative five times. Negative eight minus one. So now we're left with multiplication and subtraction. So according to the order of operations, we must now do the multiplication. Well, Negative five times negative. Eight is positive. 40. So we're left with 40 minus one and 40 minus one is 39. So we've found the value of our gift.
