Hey there, we are doing number 16.
00:07
Evaluate the roots without using a calculator.
00:10
Okay, let's take a look here.
00:12
They give us this, 0 .64.
00:16
Now that looks like a real pain because of the decimal, right? you're thinking to yourself, oh no, a decimal.
00:21
I really, really didn't want that decimal.
00:23
Well, yeah, i guess.
00:27
But you know what? if you recall your definitions of decimals, right? you would be able to find out that if you took like say 64 and you divided it by 100 right that your decimal answer would be like 64 100 that would be the same as saying 0 .64 right i mean it's literally the same number so we could replace this with a fraction we could say okay all right i will do the square root of 64 over 100 but what that's a terrible four 64 over 100.
01:04
Okay, well, what does that get us? well, if you recall, this is true, the square root of a fraction is equal to the square root of its numerator over the square root of its denominator.
01:17
That's a true thing.
01:19
Like, your textbook tells you this, right? but if you ever want to try out, try and check it on it yourself, it is true...
