Okay, now presumably there's a couple kinds of whiplash, right? but let's assume that this is, the car runs into, it's like a volvo commercial, right? the car runs frontally into some solid object.

Well, you know, if the head runs into a solid object, we've got like moving, not moving sitting still boom okay well whiplash is when your head moves forward with respect to your body right your body actually slows down but your head actually continues to go forward so this is the velocity of your of your car does this right your head does this and then sadly it keeps moving and then stops right okay so at this point that your head is moving forward with respect to the car um and that's what's that's what's really going to so an observer on the ground is going to see your head, the ground observer sees your head, your head keeps moving because that's what objects with mass do, right? they keep moving at a constant speed unless acted upon by an outside force.

And in this case, the outside force is all the ligaments in your neck, and that's why it kind of messes you up.
