Problem 18 Easy Difficulty

Explain why the changes in concentrations of the common ions in Exercise 15.17 can be neglected.

Answer

a. Here, the solubility of the salt containing the common ion is greater than 5$\%$ so the value of $S$
cannot be ignored.
b. Here, the solubility of the salt containing the common ion is greater than 5$\%$ so the value of $S$
cannot be ignored.
c. Here, the solubility of the salt containing the common ion is greater than 5$\%$ so the value of $S$
cannot be ignored.
d. Here, the solubility of the salt containing the common ion is greater than 5$\%$ so the value of $S$
cannot be ignored.

in this question we're looking into why the change in the common iron concentration was not considered to be negligible. So let's say the concentration the change in the concentration of the economy and I'm concentration let's call this didn't take we know that for it to be negligible. For DELTA X to be negligible, it must be less than 5% by principle. So if we look at each and every system that we've started, for example with the T. I. C. L. Daughter X was calculated to be equal to the 2%. This is greater than 50. As a result DELTA X. Is not. Okay so the same applies to the B. A. Have two systems. Delta X. Was calculated to be equal to 5.5 1%. of course this is comparable to five But it is still greater than 5%. Therefore don't have eggs. It's not negligent. The same applies to ME. Mg. Zt awful system in which daughter X. Was co opted to be 14 1%. This is greater than 5%. Therefore we can't ignore concentration change. The last system Cnh torture total X was completed to be six .28%. This is greater than 5%. Therefore, the change in concentration is not negligible. So in all cases, delta eggs was quicker than 5%. As a result, we could not neglect that concentration change.
