Okay, so we need to know the graph of a quadratic function. It is symmetric. How so? It is symmetric about it's axis of symmetry. So in this case, the axis of symmetry would be the y axis. We can move this around and here the axis of symmetry would be X equals two. So we can always change where the parabola is. But we know that it is symmetric about it's axis of symmetry. So even if the problem was rotated this way, so here the axis of symmetry would be the X axis. So usually find a vertex and the Vertex will tell us what the axis of symmetry is.
