for this problem, we're gonna be referencing exercise number 49 right? We're going to find the equation of the line described in exercise 49 then we're gonna actually plot the graph of that one. Okay, so going back to 49 just is a review. We were given two points naked of 1/4 to fifth with our first point and our second point with 00 In that exercise, we found the slope of the line connecting them to be negative. 8/5 cir. Okay, now we want to take that information and come up with the equation of the line. Well, we have points and we have slopes. So our best bet is to use our point slope form. So the point slope form of a line, it's why minus why one equals m times X minus X one. So why one x one y one is a point that we've been given fact in this case, we actually have two points to choose from and M is our slope. So let's use this information and come up with our equation. It doesn't matter which point we use. So let's make life easy. I'm going to use the 0.0.0 You could use the other one. You'll come up with the exact same answer. The mass is just gonna be a little more involved. Why not take the easy number if you can. So I'm going to say why minus zero equals my slope. Negative. 8/5 times, X minus The x corden of my point, which is also zero. So what I get is why equals negative 8/5 X. So there's the equation of my line in slope intercept form. I could multiply all this outside of equal to zero. If I wanted Thio. I put it in the general form. But I'm gonna put it in this form because it makes it easy to do the graphing portion of this problem. Okay, Slope intercept form. We need a place to start, so let's look at the intercept. Well, there is no intercept, which means that the intercept is zero. And we actually knew that already because the origin was one of the points we knew we went through. So I've got a green dot right there with the origin on my graph. Now my slope is negative. 8/5 and negative slope means my line will be going downward. As I go from left to right across my grid. I'm going to go down eight for every five I go across. Member Slope is rise. In this case, it's negative. That's a drop rise overrun. So I'm gonna go down. 812345678 And then over. 12345 And I might go and put another dot I might go up this time. So 1234567812345 And then we just have to connect our dots. If you do this with pencil and paper, using a ruler is nice. It kinda helps. Keep that line nice and straight for you. Okay, so here's our grit. Our graph. This is the line that we talked about.
