00:01 Today we're going to be talking about how to calculate a five number summary, how to draw a box plot, and how to see what the shape of distribution is of the graph.

00:13 And so today we're going to be focusing on miles per gallon.

00:18 I know as i have a car and miles per gallon is super important to understand the data.

00:23 You want to have the most miles per gallon possible.

00:26 And so we're going to take this set of data and we're going to create a box plot and calculate a five number summary.

00:32 In order to do that, you're going to take your graph and calculator, you're going to turn it on, and you're going to go into your stat button, which is right here.

00:46 And when you click stat and you click on this button that says edit, you want to look for the button that says edit, you want to put in your data.

00:54 Now, if there's already data in there, you're going to go to l1, you're going to hit clear and enter and vanish.

01:01 There is no more data there.

01:03 And so now you'll be able to put in your data for miles per gallon.

01:08 And so we're going to put in 30, 29, 30, 21, 18, 29, 29, 27, and 29.

01:24 You're going to continue, since it's all one variable, you're going to put all of this data in just the first list under l1.

03:01 In order to calculate your five number summary, you're going to go to stat, you're going to go over to calc, and you're going to go to one var stat which means one variable statistics since this is just one variable.
