In mathematics, a function is a relation between a set of inputs and a set of permissible outputs with the property that each input is related to exactly one output. An example is the function that relates each real number x to its square x^2. The output of a function f corresponding to an input x is denoted by f(x).

for this problem. We want to find three pieces of information. We want to find the slope of our line. We want to find the X intercept and the Y intercept. Hey, now, in order to do that, let's take a look at our equation. First, let's put this into slope intercept form because that will give us both the slope and the Y intercept. To do that, we want to put this into the form. Why equals m X plus B m is my slope B is the y intercept. So let's solve are given equation for why I'm going to divide both sides every term by four. What this gives me is why equals 5/4 x plus three. So Slope is the coordinate of my ex term, which means this case my slope is 5/4 and the Y intercept value is going to be the constant, which is three. Now it intercept. It is a point, and I only have one number there. But if you think the Y intercept is where my line crosses the y axis, which means my ex value will be zero. So my Y intercept will be 03 That's how we put that three into our point there. Now, the last piece of information that we need that we don't have is our ex intercept. So let me re copy my equation again. Four y equals five X plus 12. Remember, the Y intercept means I had an X value of zero. The X intercept means I have a y value of zero. So I could come down to my equation and I could put in a zero for Why? So four times zero is zero. And now I can solve for the X value that makes this true. Subtract 12 from both sides and divide by five. So my ex value is negative. 12 5th. So my ex intercept will be the point. Negative 12, 5th zero. So here are the three pieces of information we needed. Four are given line.
