And our task here is to find the determinant Recall that we focus on the diagonals of the determinant where blue diagonal would be a positive value red diagonal as a negative due to the formula for the determinant being a times d minus b times c. So to calculate the determinant for this matrix, we would have negative three times to minus negative one times four. You could use parentheses across every single piece. If that helps you process the information. But then you just simplify piece by piece. So we would have negative three times to to result in negative six minus on the right side, negative one times four to result in negative four. And of course, the double negative here turns into a positive. So the determinant for this matrix is negative. Six plus four resulting in negative too. The determinant is negative. Two
