in this problem were given a two by two matrix, and our goal or task is to find the determinant. So to do this we focus on the diagonals of our two by two matrix in the blue direction. We would have a positive value in the red direction. We have a negative as the formula, remember, for a determinant is a times D minus B times c. So to calculate the determinant of this particular problem, we would have six times three minus four times negative one and all you need to do a simplify piece by piece six times three is 18 minus four times negative. One is negative. Four. The double negative turns into a positive 18 plus four results in 22. The determinant for this matrix is 22.
