00:01 We have the periodic table and we have an example of 10 things here, 10 elements, which five of them were given the name of the element.

00:09 And for the other five, we're given the chemical symbol.

00:12 And so for the ones that we've given a name, we want to figure out the chemical symbol.

00:16 And for the ones we're given the chemical symbol, we want to figure out the name.

00:19 And of course, we can use our periodic table to do that just for us.

00:22 We're basically given the answers on the periodic table.

00:24 So here for helium atom, helium is actually one of our noble gases.

00:29 It's located here at the very top.

00:31 So its chemical symbol is going to be h .e.

00:34 So let's go ahead and write, use a marker here.

00:38 Let's use h .e for helium, like so.

00:42 Next up is going to be platinum.

00:45 And platinum, just as you would expect, it does have a chemical symbol of pt.

00:51 Now, if you want to go ahead and find it on the periodic table, it's going to be right here on the transition metals.

00:57 So for platinum, chemical symbol, to be pt.

01:02 Next up is going to be cobalt and cobalt is going to be again within the transition metals just like platinum it's going to have a chemical symbol of co.

01:17 Next up we have tin and tin is a little bit of an odd one.

01:23 You probably would expect it to have a chemical symbol starting with a t but it's actually has it's over here in purple, the one i'm circling in black here.

01:49 And silver is also one of these odd ones.

01:52 Silver, instead of having a chemical symbol starting with an s or whatnot, actually has here, it's within the transition metals.
