Hey everyone, today we're solving problem 10 from chapter one of the textbook, which basically asks us to explain why division of labor increases production.
00:09
So there are three reasons why.
00:13
And these are identified at the end of section 1 .1 in the reading.
00:18
If you want to learn about these concepts more in depth, i'll touch on them briefly in my writing and then i'll elaborate more in my words.
00:25
But if that's not enough, feel free to check out that section of the textbook.
00:29
All right, so the first reason why is that obviously division of labor means, you know, we're dividing different roles for different people.
00:36
So that will obviously create specialization for each of the roles.
00:40
So what i mean by specialization is that workers can focus on parts of the production process, they have an advantage.
01:02
Parts of the production process where they have an advantage, excuse me.
01:11
Just to elaborate a little bit more on this, you know, for instance, particular advantages may be based on educational choices, which are in turn shaped by interests and talents, only those with medical degrees qualified to become doctors is a great example of, you know, specialization.
01:34
They focus where they have an advantage, and, you know, obviously they can generate the most income for themselves.
01:40
All right, so the second reason is that workers who do specialize in certain tasks, well, these workers often learn to produce more quickly and with higher quality and even to innovate...
