00:01 When we're asked to graph numbers on a number line, the first thing we want to do is make sure every number that we're graphing or labeling on a number line is in the same form.

00:11 And what i mean by same form is sometimes we can have decimals or fractions or whole numbers or maybe even square roots that we're asked to graph on a number line.

00:21 And it makes everything so much easier if everything is a fraction or everything is a decimal.

00:27 So what i'm going to do here is decide what do i want to turn all my numbers into or represent them as? it looks like i have three whole numbers and then two fractions.

00:39 So i'm just going to convert these fractions to decimals.

00:42 They're going to have the same value.

00:44 They're just going to be a little bit easier to graph on a number line.

00:47 That's all whole numbers.

00:49 So first, i'm going to look at my negative one and one half.

00:53 I know that one half is represented by 0 .5.

00:56 So because this is negative 1 and 1 half, i'm going to just write down here negative 1 .1.

01:06 Everything else can be represented as a decimal.

01:10 For example, 6 is really just 6 .0.

01:14 However, it's generally understood that if we do have a whole number here and no other number after the decimal, we really don't write 0 afterwards.

01:26 This is okay, and then we get to our final fraction, three -fourths, or three out of four, and i know that is represented by the decimal .75.

01:41 So now that i have all of my numbers, and i'm going to be graphing on a number line in the same form, my second step is to, of course, draw my number line.

02:09 So in order to make a beautiful number line, hopefully yours is a little bit straighter than mine, i'm going to look at and see what is my smallest number? so it's probably going to be a negative number since i have some of those.

02:34 So my negative numbers are this number and this number, and it looks like negative 4 is going to be the first one.
