Hey guys, so essentially, an invasive species is a species that is not native to a certain environment and is introduced to that environment.
00:23
So, an example, a lot of people get certain birds as pets, and then we'll release them out into the wild, where they're not native and where they don't naturally live.
00:36
So if someone has a parrot in new york city, then releases it out into wild, that would be.
00:41
Example of an invasive species if it is able to basically survive and have offspring there and can kind of create a population.
00:57
So they may not have any natural predators or controls in that environment, which can allow them to grow really quickly and basically take over an area.
01:08
And then the wildlife around in that area may also not have any.
01:16
Kind of defense against them.
01:19
So, and they also may make a hard for species that are already living in an area to survive if they have to have, or if they have predators there, and so they can out can feed existing species for resources, which makes those other species suffer.
02:16
So other threats would also be that they can carry or cause disease.
02:28
And especially diseases that aren't actually like endemic to a certain area.
02:33
So they may be spreading diseases that current species there have never seen before...
