So for this video we're going to be talking about different types of research studies.

Particularly, we're going to be talking about research studies that occur in groups particularly.

So there are two kinds of studies.

There's longitudinal groups or longitudinal studies, excuse me, that follow groups, one group over time.

So maybe something like this.

So a longitudinal study might follow someone.

Or excuse me a group of people for 30 years or something like that 40 50 60 years whatever the case may be to find what changes occur in those participants while another study a cross -sectional study might follow or might they don't typically follow people but they'll study a bunch of different groups of maybe a group of people age 20 maybe a group of people aged 30 maybe a group of people age 40 and so on so forth to get a picture of a population at a given point in time.

So you might think to yourself, well, maybe people could combine this and make a cross -sectional longitudinal study so that you could be doing both at the same time...
