So how do the properties of compounds compare to the property of the elements that make them? well, first, let's just review what a compound is and what an element is.

An element is that most basic form of a molecule that we see on the periodic table.

So these include things like oxygen, hydrogen, carbon, whereas a compound is what you get when multiple elements are bonded together.
