what are the concepts that people often get wrong is the concept of mass. What gets confused with this is wait And we especially misuse the term weight when we talk about losing weight saying a diet what weight is is it is a force of interaction? Uh huh. And specifically it comes from the force of gravity. So for example on the earth your weight comes about because you&#x27;re standing on a very massive body, you&#x27;re standing on this huge planet which I&#x27;m going to um draws a small sphere. But hopefully you&#x27;ll get the idea that that is the bigger that I&#x27;ve zoomed out just to draw. But your weight is the force of gravity that pulls you down towards the center of the earth and there&#x27;s an equal and opposite force from the U. From you on the Earth pulling in the opposite direction. So it&#x27;s an interactive force and it just happens to be equal to your mess. Which we&#x27;ll talk about times the gravitational field of the earth which depends on the mass of the Earth, its density and its radius. So kind of a complicated thing that&#x27;s hidden in that g um mass on the other hand, is um called inertia and it&#x27;s a property of the object. So we&#x27;re going to send you off into space and your little astronaut suit. I don&#x27;t know. We&#x27;ll try to make this look like an astronaut in deep space. Well, maybe not deep space but out orbiting the sun way far away from planets. So here&#x27;s our little astronaut out in space. Deep space. What is true is that the mass of that astronaut is the same as on Earth and the same as on mars and dot dot dot anywhere anywhere in the universe. Now, let&#x27;s not take this astronaut suit um as added mass but take the same objects with a mass and put them anywhere in the universe. They are going to carry that mass with them. However, because that astronaut is not on a planet where there is a gravitational field, the weight is zero. No planet with a gravitational field, so there&#x27;s no chance to interact with that gravitational force. So again, when you say you want to lose weight, what you&#x27;re really talking about is you would like to to lose some of your mass and come up with less inertia. Mhm.

answer the question on how wait and mass are related. I will wait is actually a force, um, which is dependent upon gravity. And so the relationship is my weight or the force of my weight. My weight is actually equal to my mass times. The gravity or times acceleration, hug and so mass is a measure right of a body&#x27;s resistance. To change is an emotion. It is independent of gravity. And so, um, my mass will stay constant. No matter where we are, my weight will change depending on gravity.

Okay, so it&#x27;s clearly not a good idea to determine how toxic something is by purposefully exposing humans. However, uh, it&#x27;s vital to know how much of some particular substance is dangerous. Uh, so toxicities of most substances are measured by exposing laboratory animals to toxic substances. So this includes, uh, rat. It includes mice, sometimes rabbits, dogs or monkeys. Um, that may sound terrible, but the harm that might be done to animals is always carefully weighed against the potential harm to humans if the toxicities of substances such as medicines are unknown. In recent years, there have been models for animals, computer models so way input the molecular structure of the compound that we&#x27;re looking at, and then of other factors as well. That goes into a computer model. And that tells us an estimate, um, with appropriate ever taken into account of how toxic an unknown substance might be. And this kind of avoids the moral dilemma of animal testing

Okay. What is the difference between mass on Dwight? So, first off, all mass is scaler, so it doesn&#x27;t have direction. Uh, w or weight is the force and Victor. So this mass will not change if you move this object from Earth to another planet. But the W will change because W is equal to mass times gravity. So gravity&#x27;s acceleration on the earth. If you move it to another planet, definitely the amount of gravity on that planet will change. And w is the force applied on that object. So masses scaler w is forced on, and mass is the amount of matter that object is made by. And it doesn&#x27;t change if you move it to another planets
