Here we're taking a look at the financial institution and how a bank's assets and liabilities are related to their reserves and loans and deposits and everything else that falls in these t -charts.
00:12
So we're taking a look here.
00:13
We have two different t -charts, right? two different balance sheets.
00:17
And suppose that an outflow of $50 million occurs.
00:20
What we want to ask ourselves is which balance sheet would be preferable, to be most preferred for a bank.
00:27
So which one of these balance sheets would they prefer to have in the case of an outflow of 50 million in deposits? well, let's go ahead and adjust this balance sheet to take into account this change that would occur.
00:39
So what we can see is that if we lose those 50 million in deposits, minus 50 million, we're going to see that this bank, this bank will make this bank, or balance sheet one and balance sheet two.
00:51
So on balance sheet one, they're going to be left with 450 million in deposits.
00:57
And over here we're going to have the same thing.
00:59
So it looks like they're both going to be left with 450 million in deposits...
