Some this video, we're gonna talk about question 50 from chapter two, which says, if you wanted to make an accurate scale model of the hydrogen atom and decided that the nucleus would have a diameter of one millimeter, what would be the diameter of the entire model? um, so let's go over the structure of an atom.

So in an atom, we have are more massive, um, protons and neutrons concentrated at the center of the atom and what's called the atomic nucleus around the atomic nucleus.

We have electrons orbiting in a kind of poorly defined region, kind of like an electron cloud.

Um, so approximately, how large is our nucleus? and how large is this electron cloud that's around it? um, well, our book tells us that the approximate nucleus diameter is 10 to the minus 13 centimeters, and it tells us that electrons orbit that nucleus an approximate distance of 10 to the minus eight centimeters eso let's convert that two millimeters for convenience since we were told that the nucleus of our of our accurate scale model is one millimeter.

So we're gonna work in millimeters, so they're 10 millimeters and every once and a meter, so we have 10 to the minus 13 centimeters.
