our question says estimate. How many hours it would take a runner to run at 10 kilometers per hour across the United States, from New York to California. So I have written down here what we were given. One of the things were given is the velocity of the runner, which is 10. I wrote one here. This is actually supposed to be a tense on me. Just correct that real political. Get rid of the one and change that 2 10 Okay, so he's running at 10 kilometers per hour, and then we also can approximate the distance from New York to California to be about 300 miles, and then it wants us to find the time it's going to take to run that 300 miles if you run non stop at a velocity of 10 kilometers per hour, so we can use our velocity equation. Velocity is equal to distance divided by time, right? Okay, So if we use that to solve for time, we see that time is equal to Well, uh, the distance divided by velocity is our equal. Okay, so we know distance. We noted velocity, but our velocity is in kilometers per hour. The hours, OK? Because we want our answer time in hours, but our distance d is in miles, so we need to convert miles two kilometers in order to do this properly. Well, if you go ahead and plug in our values 300 miles multiplied by the conversion between kilometers and miles, which that conversion is for every, um one kilometer. You have 0.6 to 1 miles. That's our conversion. Okay, so now we have it in kilometers on top. I'm going to keep it in kilometers per hour on bottoms. We divide this by 10 kilometers per hour. Okay, so the kilometers are going to cancel out, and we're gonna left. We left with their answer in hours, which is what we want. If you plug all of this in your calculator, you'll find that the time it's going to take is approximately 500 hours, assuming the runners able to run nonstop for that entire time. All right, let's box it in as your solution
