In terms of the kinetic molecular theory, in what ways are liquids similar to solids? In what ways are liquids different from solids?
Solids and liquids are different because the liquid particles are much free to move than the solid particles. The spaces between liquid particles are greater than that in solid particles. The kinetic energy of solid particles is very less and consequently their positions are almost fixed. The particles of liquid can slide over one another as their energy is greater than that of solid.

So in this podcast we're considering into molecular forces and we're going to be focusing on kinetic molecular theory. So like the previous podcast, we have three different states of matter. We have solids, liquids and gasses, and we can distinguish between them based on the attractive forces between the molecules. So solids and liquids similar because both of them have constituent atoms and molecules that are in random motion. I don't have space between them, so solids and liquids are different because the liquid particles are greater degree free to move down the solid. So we'll note some of this down there. So we're considering solids and liquids. Like I said, on we have random motion has also similarity. And as our difference, we have liquid having a greater degree of freedom, and they're much more free to move and solid particles. So the space between our liquid particles are greater than the solid particles. So say we have two particles here. Oh, here it is greater or liquids. Eso the kinetic energy of a solid is ah, lot less. And so therefore, depositions were almost fixed in a sense, so particles of a liquid are able to slide over one another because their energy is greater than that, compared to eight solid
