Hey guys, so to answer this question, i'm first going to start off by talking about the advantages of the greenhouse effect, and then i will go into the disadvantages of the greenhouse effect.
00:12
So just first, i'm going to talk a little bit about what the greenhouse effect actually is.
00:19
So, oh my gosh, this is the earth, and this is the sun.
00:42
The sun produces heat, which goes.
00:48
Towards the earth and basically in every other direction.
00:52
And there are some key layers of our atmosphere which can basically trap this heat and keep it inside of the earth's atmosphere so that we can stay warm and can basically make the earth suitable for human life and for the ability of like a lot of other species to survive.
01:28
So under the advantages, i just say human my phone here, but honestly, like the ability of a lot of organisms to survive because there are a lot of organisms that, like, could not survive in an environment as cold as the earth used to be.
02:14
So just in general, the, it makes it suitable for, life of a lot of different kinds.
02:26
Greenhouse gases also kind of filter excess solar energy back into space, so it not only traps some heat, it also basically works to boomerang some of that heat back out into space.
02:43
It's not all being absorbed by the earth, which could also be bad.
02:47
And it can make the earth too hot.
02:50
So, and the last one is that we can mimic the greenhouse effect to create artificial environments and we can also just like harness the greenhouse effect to be able to like make spaces that are suitable for plants to be grown out of season and everything so that it can just generally be beneficial and it has been beneficial to just human life and like all those things but at the same time there are also some drawbacks.
04:10
First, there's just obviously the increased temperature as we are adding to the greenhouse effect by producing a lot of greenhouse gases that wouldn't have been there before because of pollution and all those kind of things.
04:32
So it's not necessarily bad in and of itself, but it's bad because we are adding to it and we are amplifying a greenhouse effect that traps that heat.
04:44
So we're raising the temperatures, which has disrupted a lot of ecological places like the polar ice caps and those kind of things.
04:55
So in that aspect, it can be negative if we add to it too much.
05:06
And higher concentrations of supermarkets of co2 in the atmosphere actually affect the rate of photosynthesis and is slowing it down.
05:28
So that's bad because basically like you probably heard like plant trees and that will help the environment just turn out on the use of biodiversity but also because plants use photosynthesis to get energy from themselves.
05:46
But when they do that, they use co2 and release all.
05:52
Oxygen...
