It is believed that the mean height of high school students who play basketball on the school team is 73 inches with a standard deviation of 1.8 inches. A random sample of 40 player. The sample mean was, and the sample standard deviation was 1.5 years. Do the data support the claim that the mean height is less than 73 inches? The $p$ -value is almost zero. State the null and alternative hypotheses and interpret the $p$ -value.
It is given that the $p$ -value is zero. Therefore, for 5$\%$ of established alpha level it can say that reject the null hypothesis because p-value is less than alpha level 0.05 . Hence, there is sufficient evidence to insure that the mean height of high school students who play basketball on the school team is less than 73 inches. So, the data supports the claim.

for this problem. They claim that basketball players height is 73 inches for the average of each player. Now we can set up the null hypothesis of H not equals meal, which is our population average. Although we're checking a sample, make sure you always have the population variable. In our no hypothesis, we're gonna set our null hypothesis equal to 73 the amount of inches in their height. The alternative hypothesis states that mu are average height is less than 73 inches. Study says there was 40 subjects and that the P value was very close to zero. That you can assume it is zero with an elf value, we'll assume of 0.5 Since the P value of zero is much less than the Alfa of 0.5 we can reject the null hypothesis and clean that there is sufficient evidence that best ballplayers height, on average is less than 73 inches
