00:01
In this video, we're going to talk about some structures that are located inside of the brain.
00:06
So what we're looking at here is a view.
00:10
Imagine if you were to kind of cut a brain in half.
00:14
Say put your hand between your eyes, and if you were to kind of cut down the middle of your head in a less gruesome manner, of course, but down the middle of your head and kind of have the brain.
00:30
This is what we would see from the inside.
00:33
So we're gonna talk about what these colored, these shaded locations are and a little bit about what they do.
00:40
So we'll start with the largest one.
00:42
This purple section is what you see kind of the outside view of the brain.
00:47
So it's the wrinkly part that most people are familiar with.
00:52
And this part has a lot of functions, but it's called the cerebral cortex.
01:01
And a lot of times we call this the cortex, for short, but it is responsible for making a lot of the connections within the brain and kind of getting those messages that the brain has out to the rest of the body.
01:20
So next in green, we have a much smaller piece, again located deep inside of the brain, and this green section is called the amygdala.
01:31
Sorry about that.
01:38
And the amygdala is all about fear and kind of this fight or flight response.
01:49
What do we do when we get scared? what do we do when we get anxious? all of that is controlled by this little green section called the amygdala...
