We're going to discuss this list of adaptations in organisms and how they each respectively increase the reproductive fitness of each organism.
00:10
So first there's a great white shark.
00:13
And in gray whites, i'm going to draw a little picture.
00:16
They've got a sense called the lateral line system, which is running across the side of the organism.
00:22
And this enables them to help detect vibrations in the water around them.
00:27
So definitely they use it for detecting prey.
00:32
So this adaptation, easier finding prey, increases the chances they're going to find food, and therefore increases the chances of them growing up to reproductive size and then actually reproducing.
00:44
So this increases reproductive fitness.
00:47
And then second, algae in coral, it's a little bit of background.
00:51
Coral cells grow by growing their own cells, and inside they house little symbiotic algae that help them perform photosynthesis and the skeleton around them.
01:05
So these algae are able to photosynthesize.
01:09
This is their adaptation and then the coral want to partner with this and their small size makes them able to stay inside the coral cell where they get protection from the elements and any predators...
