Divergent Boundaries

Convergent Boundaries

At convergent boundaries, tectonic plates move toward one another. The nature of the interaction depends on the types of crust involved; for example, when an oceanic plate meets a continental plate, the denser oceanic plate is forced beneath the continent in a process known as subduction, creating deep ocean trenches and volcanic arcs. In cases where two continental plates collide, mountain ranges are formed.

Transform Boundaries

This interaction involves two tectonic plates sliding past one another horizontally along faults. Unlike divergent or convergent boundaries, transform boundaries do not typically produce or destroy crust but are characterized by significant seismic activity, resulting in frequent earthquakes due to the friction and stress built up along the fault lines.
