Plasmids
Plasmids are small, circular, double-stranded DNA molecules that exist independently of the chromosomal DNA. They often carry genes that confer advantageous traits such as antibiotic resistance and can be transferred between cells, facilitating genetic diversity.
Flagella

Pili

Capsule
The capsule is an outer, well-organized layer that surrounds the cell wall in some prokaryotes. It serves as a protective barrier against desiccation, phagocytosis, and other environmental stresses, enhancing the cell's ability to evade the host immune system if pathogenic.
Cytoplasm
Cytoplasm is the gel-like substance within the cell that houses all the cellular components. It facilitates metabolic processes and the diffusion of molecules throughout the cell, acting as the site for many biochemical reactions.
Cell Wall
The cell wall is a rigid outer layer that provides structural support and protection to the cell. In many prokaryotes, it is composed of peptidoglycan, contributing to the cell’s shape and defense against osmotic pressure.
Cell Membrane
The cell membrane, also known as the plasma membrane, is a selectively permeable lipid bilayer that encases the cell, regulating the passage of substances in and out of the cytoplasm. It plays a vital role in maintaining homeostasis and facilitating communication with the external environment.
Nucleoid Region
The nucleoid is an area within the prokaryotic cell where the genetic material is located. Unlike eukaryotic cells, prokaryotes do not have a membrane-bound nucleus; instead, the nucleoid contains a single, usually circular, DNA molecule.
