Hey everyone, today we're solving problem number 26 from chapter 2 of the textbook.
00:06
This is involving stem and leaf plots and we're asked to draw two different stem and leave plots, one for median pay and one for top pay.
00:14
So let's jump right into the one for median pay.
00:16
Based off of the data given, i see that i have a minimum value of 66 and a maximum value of 121 for median pay.
00:27
So i know that on the left side of my stem and leaf plot, i'm going to have number 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.
00:37
Again, 6 will include that 66, and 12 will include 1201.
00:43
So, and we just lists out the data in ascending order, and then we graphically represented in our stem and leaf plot.
00:51
So i have 66, 67, and another 67 that i see.
00:56
I'm going to write 6 -7 -7 because those are going to be my leafs or my digit to the right.
01:04
So the one's digit.
01:06
And then i have for 7, quite a few values.
01:10
I have 2, 72, 74, 76, 77, i see a second 77, i see a 78, and finally a 79.
01:29
So that does it for the 70s.
01:32
80s, i have an 80, another 80.
01:36
So 2 .0s there.
01:38
81, 83, and 87.
01:44
90s, i have 99 only.
01:48
Hundreds, i have 100 on the spot, and then 106.
01:53
10010s, i have 1, 110, and then for 120s, i have 1201.
01:58
So for my key, i'm just going to write that 6 with the vertical.
02:04
Line 7 would mean 67.
02:08
Pretty simple, but always include your key.
02:11
It's a mini representation of what is largely, it is a mini representation of your larger stem and leaf plot for one particular value.
02:20
Moving on to our top pay stem of leaf plot, i see my minimum value is 100 and my maximum value is all the way down at 200, all the way up at 221.
02:30
So my stems go all the way from 10 to 222.
02:35
And let's start off.
02:37
So like i mentioned before, my minimum value is 110.
02:39
So i have, sorry, 100.
02:42
So i have a zero there.
02:44
I see 106 in my data values and 109.
02:47
So 0 .69.
02:49
Just going to go down.
02:50
So for 110s, i have 1111, 116, 116, 19 is through my data points.
02:55
So 169 goes on the right side of the vertical line.
03:00
Then for 120s, i have 122, 125, and 128.
03:06
So the numbers 2, 5, and 6 will go to the right of that vertical line.
03:13
With the 13, to the right of vertical line, i have 130.
03:19
So 0, 135, so 5, 138, and a second 138, so 2 8 to the right.
03:31
For 140s, i have 140, so 0, and then 146.
03:36
So six.
03:38
For 150s, i have two, 152, 155, and 157.
03:44
And then i have nothing until i get to 210, because i have 214.
03:50
And as i mentioned, a fadinging of our creation of this assembly plot for top page.
03:56
I have 221 as my max value.
03:59
So for my key, i'm just going to do, for example, one, one, then align, 6 would mean a top pay value of 116.
04:17
So there's my key...
