So if we look at this first one here, we have one carbon, which gives us the prefix meth.

And we know that we have an alcohol because of the oh group, which gives us the suffix of all.

And because there's only one carbon, we don't actually have to put any numbers or specify anything else.

So this is called methanol.

And you may have heard of this as wood alcohol.

So we need to start numbering our carbons.
