this time I want to solve 16. Why? Minus eight times three. Why? Minus two equals negative. 24. So I want to figure out what? Why is. But I need to get all my wives together in order to do that. So I'm gonna leave the 16. Why? Alone? But I'm gonna distribute this negative eight out to be able to see what's really going on here. So negative. Eight times three. Why is negative? 24? Why? And negative. Eight times Negative too is positive. 16 and that will still equals. I forgot my equal sign here. That was still equal. Negative. 24. Okay, now let's collect like terms. So if I put together 16 why and negative 24. Why, that's negative. Eight. Why? Plus the 16 equals negative. 24. Next, I want to go ahead and unravel this like I would a two step equation. So plus 16 has to be undone with a negative 16. I do it on both sides to keep the balance. So I get negative. Y equals negative. 40 And last but not least, I want to undo negative eight times. Why So all divide by that negative age and I end up with y equals five. Okay, Now I want to check that this answer really work. So I'm gonna go back to the beginning and everywhere I see why I will plug in a five. So 16 times five minus eight times. Three times five minus two. And I want to see if this equals negative 24. That's the big question, right? So 16 times five is 80 then I have minus eight. And let's just do all this stuff in parentheses together. So three times five is 15 minus two is 13. And if I go ahead and multiply this out 80 minus will eight times 13. I want to teach you a good trick. If you're like, I don't know, eight times 13. What you can do is parse it out into parts. So do eight times 10 which is 80 and then do eight times three, which is 24 add them together. And that's negative. 104. That's a neat trick that we use if you want to just multiply things without having to grab a calculator. And either way, a T minus 104 is negative. 24 which is indeed negative. 24. So we know why equals five
