okay, I'm gonna solve for 0.7 minus four, y equals 1.7 and I can work with the decimals, or I could just clear them right out. So this is in the 10th space. This is in the 10th space. I'm gonna go ahead and multiply every single term by 10 which will clear out that decimal. So 10 times 100.7 is seven, 10 times negative for why is negative 40 y and 1.7 times 10 is 17. Next, I'm going to clear everything on the left to get that. Why alone? So we'll start on the outside and subtract seven. Since it's positive, we want to undo it. And since I have negative 40 times why, I will undo that by dividing by negative 40 which means I'm gonna have why equals negative 1/4. Let's check that that works. I can plug it into the original, or I can plug it into the version that's 10 times larger up to you. I'm gonna go ahead and plug into the version that's 10 times larger because it's gonna be slightly easier to plug into. So seven minus 40 times negative. 1/4 is that equal to 17. This is the version I'm doing. Okay, so seven. And then I'm gonna have plus cause I have minus minus four goes into 40 10 times, so that will be add. 10 equals 17 and yes, 17 equals 17. So why is negative 1/4?
