Hi everyone.
00:03
So today we're asked to solve the quadratic equation 7x squared plus 3x equals 0.
00:14
They want us to solve this by factoring.
00:18
So all the factoring is is really just taking the biggest common factor of both terms or however many terms you have.
00:28
Well, in this case, this one is pretty simple.
00:31
So we see that the only one, common factor between the two terms is x because there's two xes here or x times x so x squared and then we have one x right here so all that's saying is we have to divide out however many x as we can well in this case it's only one so that gives us x times 7x plus 3 so we're left with 1x here and just a 3 here well, since we have this factored out completely as far as it can go, we now have to set each term, so this term and this term, to zero in order to get our answers.
01:23
So we have this by itself, so it's just x, so we go ahead and set that to zero, and that's one of our answers.
01:32
So i'll just circle that right now.
01:34
However, with this term, we actually have to solve for that x.
01:41
So there's a little more work involved.
01:43
So for this x right here.
01:46
So in order to do that, we set it to zero, just like we did the other term...
