okay. There are a couple things we want to do with these equations to get them ready to solve the system. One of the things we want to do is put the equations both in standard form. And then with the second equation, we should multiply it by 100 to make the numbers easier to work with. So if I start by multiplying that by 100 it becomes two. X equals negative three y minus five. So that's a lot better now. Putting the equations and standard form also tracked 59 from both sides of the first equation. And I will add three X to both sides of the second equation at three y to both sides of the second equation. Okay, so now we have our system. I'll call this equation one an equation to And if we want to eliminate X, we can multiply equation to buy negative three. And that way, our ex coefficients will be opposites. So we will have six x plus five y equals negative 59 and we will have negative six x minus nine. Why equals 15 and we can add those equations together and we end up with negative for y equals negative 44 divide both sides by negative four and we get wyffels 11. Now, to find the value of X, we can go back to our second equation. I'm gonna go way over here to show my work. And with the second equation, we can substitute the value of why we just found. So now we have two times X plus three times 11 equals negative. Five. So two X plus 33 equals negative. Five. Let's subtract 33 from both sides and two X equals negative 38 and then divide by two and we get X equals negative 19. And it would be a good idea to check that answer, so I'm gonna check it in equation one six times X would be six times negative. 19 plus five times. Why would be plus five times 11 equals negative 59 and six times negative. 19 is negative. 1 14 five times 11 is 55 and negative word. 1 14 and 55. Do you add two Negative 59. So that checks. So that means we have our answer and we can write it as an ordered pair. X comma y negative 19 comma 11
