Sulfur (S) and fluorine (F) form several different compounds. One of them, $\mathrm{SF}_{6}$, contains $3.55 \mathrm{g}$ of $\mathrm{F}$ for every gram of S. Hi there. In this problem, we have two compounds made up of sulfur and flooring. We have sf six and then we have a second compound made up of sulfur and flooring. But we don't know how many florins there are, so I'm just gonna put a little end there. As are unknown in the sf six, we find that there is 1 g of sulfur for every 3.55 g of flooring. No. Okay. And in our unknown compound, we have 1 g of sulfur for 2.37 grams of flooring. All right, so let's see if we can use the law of multiple proportions to solve this. I'm going back to the one that we know about the SF six. This 1 g to 3.55 g represents that 1 to 6 ratio that we see in the formula. So that means if I take the 3.55 g and divided by six, that means for every 1 g of sulfur, there's gonna be a point 592 you know, grams of flooring. This would be if we have a 1 to 1 ratio. So again, all I did is. I took the 3.55 g and I divided by six. So if we had a 1 to 1 ratio between sulfur and flooring, it would be 1 g for every 10.592 Let's see if I can use that information, then to figure out what Ennis and is going to be equal to the mass of flooring that we have divided by the mass. If there were only one flooring, So that was that 0.592 take a break. When I do this, I find than and equals four. Remember, This works because of the law of multiple proportions, these air going to always combine in a small hole number ratio. So if n equals four, that means the formula question.
